Egyptian artifact replica

I bought this several years ago on one of my trips to Egypt, but it has been stored away since then.

This is a small, hand-carved box containing small replicas of the canopic jars used by ancient Egyptian priests to store internal organs during the mummification process. The stomach, liver, lungs, and intestines were stored in separate jars and buried with the deceased, while the heart was left in its place since they believed it was the center of a person’s being and intelligence.

Each jar and every side of the box is hand-carved, including the inside of the lid. The jar lids are removable and all the jars can be placed inside the box. There’s a white patina added to the carving and there are imperfections due to the hand-crafted nature of the item.
